West BengalHow to read this catalogue
This page lists every product in the GITagRegistry catalogue, sorted by GI number by default, with filters for category and state. Each card links to a product page describing the item, its place of origin and how to recognise the genuine product. The listing includes well-known GI products such as Darjeeling tea and Banarasi saris as well as regional specialities such as Kaji Nemu, Boka Chaul and Sikki grass work that are less widely known outside their home states.
Categories and how they differ
Products fall into five groups. Agricultural products are crops and produce, textiles are woven and printed cloth, handicrafts are objects made largely by hand, food covers sweets and prepared foods, and manufactured goods include items such as soap, attar and locks. Some products could fit more than one group, so we assign each to the category that best describes its main character. The category pages give a fuller description and buying guidance for each group.
Prices and price ranges
Where a price range is shown on a product card or page, it is a rough guide taken from our source data, not a quotation. Handmade goods vary widely with materials, size and the time a maker has spent, so a cheap listing is not automatically a fake and an expensive one is not automatically genuine. Use the range as a sanity check, compare two or three authorised sellers and ask for the material, method and maker's name before paying.
Choosing between similar products
Many listed products look alike to a first-time buyer, which is exactly why the tags exist. Kanchipuram, Mysore and Banarasi silks are all luxurious saris but differ in weave, weight and ornament. Assam orthodox tea, Darjeeling tea and Kangra tea differ in leaf style and flavour. Two rasagola entries, one from Odisha and one from West Bengal, are different sweets. The product pages explain these differences so that you can choose by taste, use and budget rather than by name alone.
About the registration numbers and data
Registration details in this catalogue are compiled from public sources and datasets and may not match the official GI Journal in every case. Recently registered products are marked as such, and we do not display numbers we cannot support. If you are relying on a registration number for legal, commercial or export purposes, confirm it with the GI Registry or the official journal. We update the catalogue as new registrations are reported and verified.
